Frankfurt district hopping

On my way to an indoor market, Kleinmarkthalie, I passed through a shopping district. It looked like Frankfurt’s version of London’s Oxford Street. Apart from a large department store, I saw a Woolworth store and a C&A. This was a trip down memory lane. These stores disappeared from the UK high street many years ago.

The indoor market was large and was like a giant deli selling fruit and veg. After walking around for a while, I took the metro to see the area around Berger Strass. There were some nice green spaces and parks, such as Bethmannpark.

I hadn’t so far been south of the River Main. So I took the metro to Sachsenhausen, a picturesque area of Frankfurt. The brown houses reminded me of Brooklyn.

It was such a hot day. I was wilting. So I returned to my hotel for a rest before heading out to Frankfurt Airport. Cath, a friend, was flying to Germany. We were then going to drive to south-west Germany to join Helene.
