Bockenheimer Warte and riverside dinner

Bockenheimer Warte has a metro station whose entrance looks like a crashed tram!

I also had a quick look at the clock tower then took the metro to the ECB Japan Center. This turned out to be close to where I was yesterday evening. If I’d ventured a further 100m, I’d have seen the building, which has a Japanese-ness to it.

Whilst aimlessly wandering around the old town, I saw a man ask someone to take a photo of him. A few minutes later, he was next to me and asked me to take a photo of him. It was next to the same statue/fountain he’d asked the other person! He was not happy with the result. So I took a few photos. He seemed to happy with them and went off.

I was not hungry, especially after the generous cake I had earlier. I saw an Aldi and bought some volkorn (wholemeal) rolls and hummus. Some German bread is almost as good as homemade bread. I looked forward to eating by the Main River I’d walked along last night.

At one point, I didn’t realise there are two Frankfurt cities in Germany. I almost reserved a seat on a train to the wrong Frankfurt. The city’s full name is actually Frankfurt am Main, meaning “Frankfurt on the Main [River]”, to distinguish it from Frankfurt (Oder) on the Polish border.

When I got to the riverside, a man smiled at me. It was my friend who wanted his photo taken earlier. He came up to me and asked if I could take another photo, adding, “You are a professional photographer”! I assume he said that because I had a camera around my neck! I took a couple more photos and he went off, looking quite content.

I walked to the riverside again. This time, I sat had my light dinner: a couple of rolls and hummus.
