Frankfurt City Forest

Apart from the rain in Krakov, it has been relentlessly hot since I started this trip a few weeks ago. Having done some gentle hiking with Helene and Cath, I thought a woodland walk would get me away from the heat of the city.

Several websites mentioned Frankfurt City Forest. This was only 25 minutes by tram. When I got off the tram, it looked strange seeing a tram in a forest. I’d always seen them in cities, surrounded by buildings and traffic.

It was a weekday and the forest was fairly quiet. There were a few dog walkers and, towards the end of the day, families having picnics. The walk I picked was around Jacobi Pond in the forest. The pond was created in 1932 to hold rainwater.

The walk was mostly sheltered, with plenty of benches to sit and admire the view.
