Fatehpur Sikri

It was gorgeous day to go to Fatehpur Sikri.

I met Imri in Pushkar and we ended up together in Agra too. We went to Fatehpur Sikri together.

We took an auto to the bus stand then got an ancient bus to Fatehpur Sikri. The combination of rough roads and the bus’s poor suspension resulted in a bumpy 40km journey. At one time, I’m sure my bum left the seat! But this is India and this is how you experience it: on local transport packed with people going about their daily business 😊

The red sandstone town, Fatehpur Sikri, is near Agra. The city itself was founded as the capital of the Mughal Empire in the 16th century by Emperor Akbar, serving this role for 15 years before being completely abandoned in 1610.

Fatehpur Sikri combines Persian architecture with Indian touches.
