Udaipur, the Blue City

On my first day, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how attractive Udaipur is!

It’s got some beautiful historical buildings. I’ll show these in later posts.

I’m referring to the Old Town, which is where I am. It shows signs of having changed to cater for the sort of tourists who come here, which, going by the shops, restaurants and their decor, is the bohemian/alternative type. So there are boutiques, art shops, and restaurants that could be in gentrified Hackney! All of this development is adjacent to older, dilapidated areas which have not yet changed.

The Old Town also has the advantage of having a great setting: it sits in a bowl surrounded by scenic hills.
