Our time at the Rainforest Retreat had come to an end. It was a shame to be leaving. We had enjoyed the surroundings and food, and met some interesting people.
We’d been recommended to see the Tibetan Golden Temple, which is on the way to Mysore. So, we asked for an early taxi.
We had about 30 minutes to see the Golden Temple. Some of that time was taken by people asking Helene to pose in their family photos and selfies.

I’ve seen many temples, churches, and mosques on this trip. At some point, my aesthetic critical faculties became blunted. A temple that might have seemed stunning at the beginning of the trip now appears ordinary. It is just a place where people pose for selfies.
The rest of our journey was on schedule. We reached Mysore railway station 45 minutes early. Our train to Bangalore was at the platform. We boarded it early to benefit from the air-conditioning. It was 35°C outside.
