The Custard Factory

A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on.

John F Kennedy

I’m not sure what the connection with JFK is but there’s a large mosaic mural of him on the way to The Custard Factory, a colourful corner of Birmingham. It’s full of an eclectic mix of shops and street art.

There’s The Clean Kilo, a zero-waste supermarket, which started by crowd-funding. You have to bring your own containers to buy food. Even their suppliers reuse containers. No plastics!

I went down memory lane in the Mac repair shop, which is full of old and iconic Apple computers. Opposite the store was a giant Groot-like figure, foliage covering his private parts, looking like he’d stepped off the set of the new Avengers film.

Finally, amongst the street art was a huge hand-painted advert for Netflix’s new Our Planet show. Netflix – the global, local media streaming channel.
