Savoi Spice Plantation

I had an informative and entertaining one-to-one tour at the peaceful and non-touristy 200-year old Savoi spice plantation in Goa. They were advised by one of the cruise operators to flatten part of the plantation so that groups of 50 could be accommodated!

Whilst waiting for my tour, they provided a perfectly spiced Goan meal πŸ˜‰.

I loved seeing the nutmeg, chilli and pepper (see photos) and also vanilla, sawtooth coriander, tumeric, cardamom, cloves, betel nut, various spice leaves, ginger, and the usual tropical fruit trees.

When the guide/owner snapped off their hottest chilli and said, “Smell this”, I put it to my nose and went “Wow!”. He thought I’d let it touch my nose, which, if I had, would have left my nose burning for quite a while 🌢πŸ”₯ 😳
