Folkstone

It had been a long time since I’d been to Folkstone. By coincidence, I went twice in two weeks when two different friends wanted to walk around there.

The first walk started in Folkstone and ended in Dover. Dover was not at its best. So the next time, I started in Dover and finished in Folkstone.

On the Dover to Folkstone walk, there was an outdoor market, which livened up the sea front.

About halfway between Dover and Folkstone is a Battle of Britain Memorial. In the building, there was information about the battle and, on the first floor, a nice cafe with a view.

Folkstone has changed a lot over the years. I had to stand on the packed Saturday train to Folkstone. So the news has spread!

The local authorities have completely revitalised the town. Perhaps the highlight was the Creative Quarter, full of art and interesting shops.

On finishing in Folkstone, we had a coffee in Steep Street cafe, which was filled with books. This was a lovely place to relax after the 13 km walk. Their cakes were good too!
