I’ve been a member of Kew Gardens for many years. Although it’s on the other side of London from me, there’s an Overground train that goes there.
We didn’t have the ingredients to make a picnic, so we picked up sandwiches on the way. It was a lovely sunny day. We were both getting used to the warmth.
The first thing we noticed was how busy Kew Gardens was. There were more people than usual. We noticed there was a community promotion going on. Stalls displayed information about Kew and handed out drawing material to children.
We sat by the section of the Thames that passes Kew and had lunch then read. A heron landed just behind us and was chewing! It must have been having lunch too.
