A couple of weeks ago, we went to Wales for a few days. It reminded me of our trip last year to the annual festival in Hay-on-Wye. We’ve been to the festival before .
This time, we went to hear a talk between writers Abdulrazak Gurnah and Elif Shafak. I’ve not read either of their works. The first I’d not heard of. He is a Tanzanian-born British writer and winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature!
We went partly because a friend is a fan of Elif Shafak. So, we bought her latest book and she signed it. We gave our friend the book as a present with a photo of her signing it.

Whilst in the area, we did one of our favourite walks up Hay Bluff. We also did another walk from the place we were staying into Hay. This turned into an obstacle course because a landowner had blocked part of the public path. We met a couple coming in the opposite direction. The person navigating was livid. He told us he was going to report it!

By chance, when we were walking through town, a woman asked us if we wanted to see some rescued owls! Of course we did! They were beautiful. We even stroked them!
