Film, dance, and music

After the morning visit to the Matrimandir, I asked the bus driver to drop me off at the Auroville Town Hall.

On the Auroville campus, they have an Auroville Card. It’s a card you top up with money. This is used for payment at various places. I registered at the Town Hall to get one.

Then I went to the Solar Kitchen for lunch. This is the main campus restaurant where many Aurovillians go every day. You must have an Auroville Card to pay. The food was basic.

After eating, I went to the library. This had a peaceful atmosphere. I read my book.

My German friend, Lorenz, told me about a series of talks at Cinema Paradiso, the Auroville cinema. I walked there.

For each talk, a person told their story about Auroville. The stories were an anecdotal history of Auroville. They started when Auroville began and moved to the present time. The final two stories were projections of what Auroville would be like in the future, ending in 2068.

As I was walking back to the guest house, I saw a poster for a dance. It was starting in 5 minutes! I went to the auditorium and watched it.

The performance was by a solo dancer and someone narrated the story she was telling.

During the interval, a band (drum and flute) played some beautiful pieces.

I ate again in the Right Path Cafe on the campus. It was a simple masala dosa. I like that they top up the sambar and chutney for free. This time I had a chocolate cake and tea as well.
