Wandering around Berlin

The day started with the delightfully spacious central library before joining the crowds at the Brandenburg Gate then walking around the corner to the Reichstag.

The German parliament Reichstag building is free to enter provided you have registered on their website. It was partially destroyed during the war but, after reunification, became the home of German democracy. The centrepiece is the spectacular Norman Foster designed dome.

In the afternoon we headed towards Charlottenberg to see the temporary Bauhaus exhibition, which was almost non-existent! The new permanent building was going to open a week later. That was something to look forward to next time.

With the disappointment of the exhibition behind us, we followed a walk in our guidebook, the highlight being Cafe Literature House, which was our afternoon pit stop for refuelling.

The day finished with a pizza (good) and pasta (average) in Ali Baba restaurant.
